Help, hope, and guidance to those in Will County who find themselves in financial crisis.
The Lazarus Ministry of Grace New Lenox provides help, hope, and guidance to those in Will County who find themselves in financial crisis.
If you need immediate assistance with rent, utility payments, or another urgent need, we can help. Our volunteers will assess your individual situation, and, in most cases, pay your bill directly. We will also guide you toward area agencies with the resources to provide further assistance and guidance.
The Lazarus Ministry of Grace relies on the generosity of others to continue providing these services. If you are able to make a donation, either one-time or recurring, please click below.
Thank you. There is no gift too small, and we appreciate your support!
The Lazarus Ministry came about when a group of parishioners noticed an unmet need in our community. In Will County, there are many wonderful food aid organizations, providing hot meals and groceries, and there are shelters providing a place to stay for people who are unhoused. However, there was no one helping people to cover those other expenses like an unexpected car repair, gas to get to work, and utility or rent payments.
Lazarus was created to meet this need, providing people with short-term direct aid or no-interest loans that enable them to remain in their home and still able to provide for their families. Lazarus also focuses on connecting neighbors who need our assistance with other area agencies to help provide for longer-term needs.
The Lazarus Ministry at Grace was based upon a similar ministry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia. They have graciously allowed us to share their name and share in the good work that they are doing. Learn more about the original Lazarus Ministry.
