The Season of Lent at Grace New Lenox
Lent begins march 6
The season of Lent is a season of penitence, reflection, introspection and preparation for Easter. Christians are encouraged to remove something in their lives that blocks their relationship to God, or conversely, to add something sacred to their 40 days that will deepen their spirituality.
Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, March 6th, with services at 8:00 am (Holy Eucharist Rite I, with imposition of ashes) and 7:00 pm (Holy Eucharist Rite I with music and imposition of ashes).
Our services of worship during Lent on its six Sundays (March 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7 and 14) will begin with a Penitential Order - the reading of the 10 Commandments (Decalogue) and a Confession of Sin. We will be using Rite One for all our worship this season of Lent. And we will “bury” our Alleluias until Easter!
For any questions or to discuss how you can have a more purposeful Lenten season, please contact the Vicar.
