Children are a vital part of the life of Grace New Lenox. We believe they are a part of our worship life and the heart of our programming. Click on the link to the right to read our new Pew Card for parents of small children.

When children enter the sanctuary for worship, they are invited to take a Children’s Bulletin, to color or mark on. These bulletins correspond to the lessons of the day the adults will be hearing, and is wonderful way for children to participate in the service - and have something to do!

Read this pastoral letter to the congregation sent by Fr. Greg on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 addressing the new changes for Children’s Ministries this Fall:

Sunday School

Our Sunday School programs begin on September 15, 2019. There is a change this year: the start time for BOTH CLASSES is 9:45am. The children are brought up into the sanctuary during the Peace at about 10:30am and stay through the service with the adults for Communion.

There are two children’s age groups:

  • Ages 3-6 meet in our large classroom for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

  • Ages 7-10 meet in the adjacent classroom at the same time. Their curriculum will be based on our lectionary (follows the readings assigned for adults in worship)

Vacation Bible School (Summers)

In the Summer we have Vacation Bible School for both age ranges as well. See the photos below! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER For VBS 2020

The Future

While our church experiences it’s current explosion in newcomers and growth in attendance, the Vicar and Bishop’s Committee are studying long-term plans in the next few years that include both the hiring of a part-time Children’s Christian Education Director and the establishment of a Parent’s Morning Out program for pre-pre-school ages during the week (which we hope and expect to lead into the creation of Day School during the weekdays for pre-school age children). If you have any thoughts or questions on these plans, please reach out to Fr. Greg at
